A section of taxiway on the south-side of the Aerodrome has been marked as an unlicensed runway. The location of the this runway is shown on the Redhill Aerodrome ICAO Chart in the UK AIP. The markings and operational procedures have been agreed with CAA – AATSD. Fixed-wing aircraft may use this unlicensed runway only when the grass runways are not useable by that particular aircraft type or have been withdrawn from use due to surface conditions.
The unlicensed runway is 498m x 10m with thresholds marked runway designators and painted corner markings. The following operating restrictions apply to the use of this unlicensed runway:
1) The runway is available between sunrise and official night.
2) ATC will ensure that any Group 1 helicopter is no closer than 60m and any Group 2 helicopter no closer than 120m to the edge of the taxiway.
3) Any helicopter in the Eastern Hover Square will be held on the ground whenever a fixed-wing aircraft is departing from from Runway 07 or landing on Runway 25.
4) Any helicopter in the Western Hover Square will be held on the ground whenever a fixed-wing aircraft is landing on Runway 07.
