New Roof for Hangar 9
The first stage was to start to remove and dispose of sections of the old roof ,exposing the original steel structure, which remarkably still retained its original structural integrity, and replace the outgoing sections with the new panels. By systematically working southwards on the West facing slope and then following the same pattern on the Eastern side, the roof was slowly but dramatically transformed. Not only does the new roof look magnificant, but with the incorporation of an increased number of light ommitting panels, the interior is much brighter as a result. Despite the new roof being the latest 21st century technology, it does look very much like the original photographed here in 1937. hopefully it will last another 90 years!
